1.010 Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL)

The Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL) is a recommended qualification for teaching English in New Zealand and overseas. No prior teaching experience is necessary for this programme: CertTESOL provides trainees with practical experience of language teaching with ample opportunities to plan, teach and evaluate lessons. Trainees attain a high level of practical competence and understanding of language teaching required for employment in this field.

Intakes are limited to 9 students in 2 groups. Upon graduation trainees receive a certificate and a reference letter endorsed by AIS.

Programme Structure

The programme comprises three sections:

1.132 Basic Linguistic Concepts
1.232 English Language Teaching
1.332 English Language Teaching Practice

Duration

8 weeks

A preliminary two-week period of self-directed study is followed by six weeks of classroom-based instruction and practice.

Class times: 9.15am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Our network includes a number of trusted institutes, colleges and universities in China, Taiwan and South Korea, interested in hiring English teachers for extended periods of six months to a year on a contractual basis.

Having the AIS TESOL certificate on hand combined with a reference letter endorsed by AIS allows graduates to bypass the tedious job search process and start teaching English overseas right away.

International students require IELTS 6.0 with no individual band lower than 5.5 / TOEFL iBT 60 (with a writing score of 20) / Pearson 50 / TEP 52 or equivalent with no band less than 12

Leave us a message below and a representative from AIS will get back to you to answer questions and to guide you further. Applicants are then required to download and complete a Pre-Interview Task and attend a one-to-one interview. Classes are limited to 18 students per intake (2 groups 9 students each).
